Colleges now have to provide students with details regarding their textbooks at the time of their registration. Prior to that, students would quite often not know what textbooks they needed until they went to their first class.
One way I saved money on textbooks when I was in school was to check them out from the library. I would then renew the book multiple times. Once I was out of “renews,” I would then just accumulate late fees. Those late fees might be $15-$20/book, but they beat paying $120 for the textbook.
